Everything dates back to year 1931 when Dr. Haller discovered the therapeutical virtues of Vichy Thermal Spa Water. A water so powerful that it allows to heal the injuries. Convinced by the fact that the healthy skin is the real source of beauty, he had the idea to incorporate this water in cosmetic formulas. In an era where skin is still considered as a simple external shell, Doctor Haller believed that it is all about a vital organ and that rigorous medical research must be applied to cosmetics.

The invention of dermocosmetics
Since its creation, the Vichy Dermatological Hygiene Company establishes requirements never seen before for cosmetics: clinical proofs of efficacy and tolerance, application of great advances in the skin physiology knowledge, researches of new active molecules. Vichy's secrets illustrate this radically new approach to cosmetics, known under the name of dermocosmetic: these are the first formulas tailored to each skin type, replacing the old compounding.
